Sending SMS - can message ID be used ?

  1. Hi guys,

I wonder if I can assign my custom message ID while sending SMS? I need to be able to track message history by it's ID. The typical scenario: I send message to a user. Then user replies on this message. Then I need to retrieve user's reply. Is it possible?

    Hi Dmitry_oz,

Whispir will provide you with a generated message ID each time we send a message through the API. You can use this to correlate your sent messages rather than have to generate one yourself.

This comes in the form of a location header e.g.

    HTTP 202 Accepted
    Location: https://api.whispir.com/messages/ABC389473BCDF384DCB

You can then use this to obtain message status or replies..

Alternatively, you can utilise Whispir's asynchronous callbacks feature as described here: http://developer.whispir.com/docs/read/Whispir_API_Callbacks

Please let us know if you need any further information.

Also, is there way do delete/archive old messages?

    Hi Dmitry

Yes, when you send a message the response will contain the Location element which can be used as a unique message identifier.

Secondly, we don't have a way currently through the API to delete/archive messages. This can be performed through the Whispir Platform with a valid Whispir account.

    I hope this information helps.
